MASTERCLASS HATHA VINYASA FLOW - FRIDAY, NOVEMBER 15, 2024 - From 7 PM to 9 PM

This masterclass has been designed to ideally prepare participants for the weekend workshops, but it can also be done independently. Why Hatha Vinyasa Flow? Well, sometimes it's important to take the time to develop a deep understanding of our actions in practice and to make lasting changes to our bodies. By extending the postures and subtly adjusting them according to the breath, Hatha Vinyasa Flow offers exactly that.

In an approach that Alex Hammer calls Neo Hatha Yoga, intelligent and progressive sequences are gradually integrated. Additionally, special attention is given to muscle strengthening to balance flexibility and strength, ensuring a better understanding.

Since the weekend will be dedicated to handstands, splits, and backbends, these elements will be at the heart of this masterclass. This course is open to all levels, so everyone is welcome. However, some prior experience may facilitate participation and make the experience more rewarding.

HANDSTAND WORKSHOP - SATURDAY, NOVEMBER 16, 2024 - From 2 PM to 5:30 PM

Fundamentals | Safely Exiting Poses | Awareness of Inversions | Basic Forms | Entering Handstands

This workshop will allow you to discover or deepen your understanding of hand balancing, starting from the basics. We will examine in detail the positioning of the hands as well as the role of the shoulders in handstands. We will also address the core strength and flexibility needed to maintain balance. Additionally, we will teach techniques for entering handstands and "falling" safely to overcome mental barriers and apprehensions.

Finally, we will work on body awareness in an inverted position. This part will include exploring basic forms and movements, not only in handstands but also in more accessible inversions such as headstands and forearm balances. Then, we will progress by consolidating these skills.

We will revisit inversion awareness, this time in handstands. We will cover advanced forms such as candle, half-split, full split, diamond, and tuck positions. Furthermore, we will explore pressing into handstands and how to acquire this delicate skill.

This workshop is ideal for beginners in these types of poses as well as for those who wish to refine and master their practice.

FLEXIBILITY WORKSHOP: SPLITS AND BACKBENDS - SUNDAY, NOVEMBER 17, 2024 - From 1 PM to 3:45 PM

Hamstrings | Quadriceps | Internal and External Rotations | Hip Extension | Lower, Middle, and Upper Back |

Neck | Shoulders

Like the masterclass, this workshop aims for the immediate transformation of our body and mind! The goal is for each participant to leave this workshop feeling their body has been opened and strengthened, while understanding how this was achieved. Rest assured, there will be ample time. Observation, awareness, and injury prevention are paramount, especially at this depth of body practice.

We will begin by exploring the internal and external rotations of the hip. Then, we will slowly progress toward full splits, with the possibility of exploring some more advanced variations.

After that, we will gently move into backbends to open the spine in a holistic manner. Hip extension and shoulder opening will also be key aspects of our backbends.

Finally, we will enjoy playing with beautiful transitions and combinations like backbends with balance or backbends followed by splits.

To fully benefit from this workshop, it is recommended to have some experience with yoga or stretching. You don’t need to be an expert, but a bit of prior practice will make the experience more enriching and enjoyable.

ALEX HAMMER

Alex's journey began with weight training and calisthenics. After several injuries due to a lack

of flexibility, he was fortunate to discover yoga through YouTube and started practicing the

same day. Two years later, he completed a Hatha Yoga teacher training in Rishikesh, India.

Subsequently, he dedicated himself to Ashtanga for a few years. Always in search of new

approaches and spending hours on the mat each day, he gradually developed a method

                                combining different elements of yoga.

Alex views movement as an art and a means of self-expression. With his experience, he understands that our feelings towards our practice can be ambivalent. Thus, in his workshops and retreats, he focuses on connecting participants with their bodies and finding joy in the practice. This involves developing a skill he calls "intensity management": a joyful experience of pushing our perceived limits and finding a way to express ourselves through practice.

This approach aims to encourage everyone to use movement as a form of personal expression and to find satisfaction in self-development through regular practice.

This weekend is of mixed level, so everyone is welcome. Some experience, however, would be helpful not only to get the most out of the workshops but also to make them more enjoyable.
